1525603 Steam generation in gas producers FOSTER WHEELER ENERGY CORP 19 Aug 1975 [20 Aug 1974] 34441/75 Heading C5E [Also in Division F4] In a steam generating system (Divisions F3-4) for a gas producer a combustion chamber 1 defining a fire zone 2 above a rotatable grate 3 is surrounded by an annular water jacket 10, the upper annular part 13 of the water jacket 10 being of a larger diameter than the lower annular part 11 thereof. The lower annular part 11 is heated through a metal wall 12 and the upper annular part 13 is insulated from the combustion chamber 1 by means of an insulating lining formed by fire bricks 14. A steam exhaust line 17 communicating with the upper annular part 13 feeds steam into an air blast conduit 7 leading to a rotating grate in the combustion chamber 1 of the gas producer. The steam exhaust line 17 includes a safety valve 19 adapted to respond to temperature changes in the air blast conduit 7 at the downstream end of the steam entry point. An open vent pipe 15 connects with the lower annular part of the water jacket 10. To prevent build up of back pressure in the steam line 9 a venturi throat 20 is provided in the air blast conduit 7. Coal enters a fire zone 2 of the combustion chamber 1 va a feed chute 5 and the industrial producer gas in the device exits in the direction of the arrow 6.
