1525641 Tube plates N A ROUSSELIN and P A DAMOIS 23 Feb 1976 [28 Feb 1975] 06992/76 Heading F4S A heat exchanger tube plate 1 is hot moulded under pressure from a thermosetting material which may be reinforced as, e.g. by glass fibres, said plate being moulded with a plurality of blind holes 30 extending from one face 1a of the plate and having their base portions 30a of sufficient thickness to withstand the operating pressures of the heat exchanger. In use the base portions of at least some of the blind holes are punched out to provide through-holes 3 (Fig. 6) to receive the ends of the heat exchanger tubes. Some through-holes 3 may be provided in the initial moulding of the plate. Cavities such as 5 are also moulded in the plate for lightness, and these define strengthening ribs 10 of the plate structure. Through-holes 9 are provided for bolts or screws, and these holes may each be encircled by a metal washer embedded in the plate material.
