PURPOSE:To obtain a contrast image of high quality by calculating an intermediate density gradation value between two dot density gradation values based on adjacent dot density gradation values in a linear direction, and generating new dots between adjacent two dots. CONSTITUTION:A single line of data is stored in a line buffer for input 21, and then the data is shifted out in units of four bits. A switch 25 is connected to a latch 23 side, and an output data from the latch 23, that is, the density gradation value of an original image data is stored in a line buffer for output 26 by one. After this, the switch 25 is connected to a subtracter 24 side to store the average value of data density gradation values which are entered to and output from the latch 23 in a line buffer for output 26. If data of 1,280 columns equal to a single line is completely processed, data in the line buffer for output 26 is output twice on page memory 31. If the processing of the data is completed, interpolated image data of a single page is stored on page memory 31, then is sent to a printing section 50 and printed out. |
