PURPOSE:To effectively reproduce information by executing a scan by separating a probe head from the surface of a recording element with a very small distance, detecting an interaction generated between atoms of this head and the surface of a recording element, detecting a bit array pattern and reproducing the information. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed voltage is applied between a probe head 1 and a recording element 2 by a voltage applying device 6, and also, an interval between the head 1 and the recording element 2 is adjusted to, for instance, about 1nm by a Z axis driving part 3c. As a result, by a quantum effect, a tunnel current flows. Subsequently, a voltage applied to the driving part 3c is controlled by a servo-circuit 5 so that this tunnel current is kept constant, and while keeping the interval between the head 1 and the recording element 2 constant, the head 1 is scanned in the X direction and the Y direction by a Y axis driving part 3b and an X axis driving part 3a. In this case, the variation of the voltage applied in order to drive the driving part 3c is brought to voltage detection 7, a fetched signal is inputted to a reproducing device 8, an array pattern of bits by unevenness on the surface of the recording element 2 is detected and information is reproduced. |
