<p>A bearing unit for a rotary element such as an automobile wheel including an inner bearing ring, a flange, and a brake element such as a drum or disc formed as an integral homogeneous unit, for example by powder pressing or by forging. This avoids the need for separate balancing and installation operations on the individual component parts, and also vastly simplifies the manufacturing, machining and finishing thereof. The rotary element is heattreated as a unit its various portions being subjected to the same or different heat treatment as desired.</p> |
