<p>An optical reading head for high speed reading of codes formed by phosphorescent or fluorescent markings. These codes are carried by a support which move past the head at high speed, and the markings are illuminated by light and reflecting light the characteristics of which are altered by the code markings. There are provided optical fibres some of which are responsible for transmitting emitted light capable of exciting the code markings carried by the support which passes in front of the head, and others of which are responsible for picking up the light reflected by the code and for transmitting the same to a processing device. Those fibres are arranged in a unit, one face of which contains two separate openings at which the emitter fibres and the receiver fibres respectively terminate, the opposite face containing a single opening at which the receiver fibres are enclosed by the emitter fibres.</p> |
