1463818 Light sensitive polymer compositions POLYCHROME CORP 13 Dec 1973 [14 Dec 1972] 57706/73 Heading C3R [Also in Division G2] A light sensitive film-forming composition comprises (I) a compound which is the reaction product of (A) an isocyanate-containing intermediate which is the reaction product of 1 equivalent of an organic active hydrogen containing compound with two equivalents of an organic polyisocyanate and (B) a monomeric active hydrogen containing compound, at least one of the active hydrogen containing compounds containing only one active hydrogen, (II) a light-sensitive negative-acting or positive-acting diazonium compound and (III) optionally a compound which contains at least one polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated group, with the proviso that there is present at least one compound of (I) and (III) containing polymerizable unsaturation. Preferably the active hydrogen compound used to form the intermediate contains at least two active hydrogens and the active hydrogen compound reacted with the intermediate contains one active hydrogen and is preferably olefinically unsaturated. Suitable monoactive hydrogen containing compounds are hydroxyethyl acrylate or hydroxyethyl methacrylate. The negativeacting diazo compounds are preferably pdiazo-diphenylamine and condensation products thereof with aldehydes or acetals, which diazo compounds may be reacting with coupling agents. Positive-acting diazo compounds may be esters of a 1,2-diazo-quinone-sulphonic acid chloride or a 1,2-diazo-naphthoquinonesulphonic acid chloride with a polyhydroxy phenol, esters of sulphonic acids of orthodiazo-phenyls and phosphotungstate diazonium salts. Component (III) may be a crosslinker having at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups. Vinyl polymerization inhibitors, preformed condensation or addition polymers, inorganic fillers, plasticizers, pigments or dyes and curing agents for the unsaturated compounds may also be included in the compositions. The compositions may be coated on to a suitable base to prepare lithographic printing plates. |
