Medicaments comprising 5-hydroxymethyl-3-phenyl-2-oxazolidones of formula (I) are claimed. (where R is NO2, 1-3C alkoxy (but not p-OMe), 1-3C alkylthio, 2-4C acyl, Br, or several 1-4C alkyl gps.). Cpds. (I) are 5-hydroxytryptophan potentiators and reserpine antagonists useful as psychotropic agents. Some have higher activity and lower toxicity than toloxatone. Cpds. (I) and their prepn. are described in the Parent Patent. They can be administered orally as tablets, dragees or capsules in a daily dose of 500 mg.
