<p>Belt casting machine is for the continuous casting of metal in a mould formed by a pair of moving surfaces, one or both of which is a metal belt. The belt is supported by a control roll, consisting of a shaft with a radial structure terminating in two peripheral channels (a, b) one on each side of the middle line (P) of the roll. Each channel extends to one end of the roll, the outer ends of the channels being closed by end caps on the roll. An expandable sheath is located on channels (a, b); and the roll shaft and its radial structure have two sets of channels via which a hydraulic fluid can be fed independently to both channels (a, b) to expand the sheath. Channels (a, b) are pref. formed in the periphery of a roll which has a middle web including line (P) and sepg. the two channels. The casting belts are subject to temp. change and stresses which can cause the belts to wander away from their correct position. Hydraulic fluid can be fed into channels (a, b) to return and/or keep the belts on their correct path.</p> |
