A throw-away pocket electric torch uses a standard multicell dry battery (1) housed in a rectangular case (7). The top (7a) of the case is shaped to match the contour of the bulb (4) which is fitted with a small lens (5). The shorter of the battery terminals (2) is pressed by its own resilience against the side (8) of the base of the bulb (4) and holds it in position. The top of the torch case (7) has a guide slot for a sliding button (11) which forms a switch by pressing the second terminal (3) against the contact (12) on the end of the bulb (4). The case (7) is of a suitable insulating material but may also be formed as part of the battery (1). |
