The displacement pump comprises two carrier elements (10) with a distance between them and connected by a flexible plate-shaped member (12) so as to form a pump chamber connected with inlet and outlet, the relative motion of the elements causing compression and expansion in the chamber. The elements may be approximately disc-shaped and symmetrically arranged. The first element may be secured to a flat base plate (20) whilst the second element is fixed to a plate (18) with a conical face on one side and a flat face on the other, continuous compression and expansion being achieved by oscillating action of this plate (18).
