<p>The carburettor has a float chamber feeding a jet in the throat of a venturi in the air inlet passage. A branch pipe is connected to the passage downstream of the main jet to draw a portion of the fuel air mixture over an electric heater. The heater is of the resistance type with a reinforced casing, and heats the mixture, totally vaporising the fuel. The vapourised mixture is then cooled by the addition of ambient air and returned into the main stream of mixture at a point near the throttle. Engine fuel consumption is improved and atmospheric pollution reduced.</p> |
