A device is used for detecting current leakage in faulty domestic appliances. To use the device a current of five to seven times that normally applied is fed to the appliance and leakage is monitored by inductance through a transformed stage (3). A warning lamp (4) is connected between banks of serially tapped loads which are independently selectable by a gauged switch (2) to reduce the current loss effects of the lamp. The device is balanced by a complete transformer (1) operating on one side of the tapped loads. The construction only requires chemical battery power and is thus easily portable.
