The coupling is fitted to the rolling stock used on a model railway and provides a realistic action when negotiating bends. It comprises a short semi-rigid link which retains adjacent buffers of each carriage or wagon in permanent contact. For preference, these buffers are spring loaded to operate similar to the full-size unit. Each carriage or wagon body is fixed rigidly to its chasis, but can move independently of its wheels. A slot is provided in the chassis, this moving laterally relative to the wheels to a limited and adjustable degree. Permanent magnets or springs provide stability.
