Buffer to temporarily block rail track - has two sections hinged at track sides and biassed to stand-by position by springs

The buffer is for the temporary blocking of through traffic railway tracks. It has two sections, each being hinged to an abutment outside the track. A spring arrangement is connected to a pivot arm of an abutment, and to a buffer section. When the buffer section is pivoted out of the stand-by position, the spring arrangement is tensioned, and attempts to return the buffer. The spring arrangement consists of a helical spring in a cylindrical sleeve, its characteristic being smaller than the energy necessary to return the buffer sections into the stand-by position.
