The propeller tunnel is particularly for seagoing ships and which have to travel through ice, the propeller being accommodated inside a flow ring. At the inlet end (4) of the ring (2) is a funnel-shaped extension piece (5), tapering in the flow direction. This extends to both sides of a vertical plane (6) through the propeller shaft. The piece can be rounded on the inlet side at right angles to this plane, and it can be inclined to this plane at from 15-50 deg., preferably 15-35 deg. This angle (8) of inclination can be >= that between the outside of the hull and the same plane.
|
