<p>A detachable connector for an optic fibre is formed of a pair of symmetrical plugs fitting an intermediate element with centering guides for the fibres. The intermediate unit (1) has a central bore (2) of varying cross-section. The unit is made of a deformable material so that the cross-section of the central bore can be narrowed in the region of the ends of the light guides (4) by the fitting of an external cap (7). The arrangement ensures the automatic centering of the light guides being joined, and the one connector serves to join cables of different diameters.</p> |
