The ventilation system for a mining machine, as in the main patent, has a set of filter units (7) with a suspension support arrangement. These are interconnected by flexible lines (10) to a set of discharge valves (8) at the rear of the machine (2). These are mounted above a flexible take-off conveyor with a helical screw. This is made up of flexible dust transporting sections. The filter housing is of double tube construction, the upper part forming a channel for entry of clean air. The dust laden air enters from underneath through a sieve arrangement (16).
