The curved roller comprises a shaft (1) sufficiently resilient to be capable of rotating in the curved state. A number of separate cylindrical supports (17) are assembled on the shaft and support between them a rubber sleeve (18) defining the outside of the roller. The ends of the shaft are supported in respective bearing assemblies which restrain the shaft in the curved state. Each bearing assembly has two axially spaced ball bearings (3) in a housing (5) which is adjustably tilted to bring about the curvature of the shaft.
