Assembly of standard insulated wall panels produces insulated containers of various sizes. The walls are of the type formed from an expanded insulating core sandwiched between cover plates and have chamfered edges, so that mitred corners are made. To assemble such panels and to take the thermal expansion and contraction loads, it is proposed that long rods with threaded ends be passed through the centre of the core at right angles to the joined edge. Where they meet, one of the bolts carries a long nut which has a transverse tapped hole, so that the other rod may be screwed in. The force applied across the joint is regulated by the tension in the rod, which has a nut on the other end bearing on the sleeve which surrounds each rod. Hinged corners may be constructed in a similar way.
|
