In the mfr. of a self-twist yarn, two rovings are sepd. twisted alternately left and right, and then allowed to twist together spontaneously to be wound. The yarn is unwound as a second stage and given a further twisting along the same direction. In the second stage, the yarn is again sepd. into yarn components and then directly twisted together in a constant directional twist. The process gives a self-twist yarn which is economically developed, giving a consistent twist with high tensile strength.
