The snap action catch especially for furniture doors and flaps, has a spring loaded, sliding locking bolt engaging with a locking stop on the furniture body. Fitting tolerances between the stop and bolt are automatically compensated. The locking element (30) and the stop element have self jamming inclined faces (31, 91). The locking element (30) has a carrier pin (50) which projects through the door (10). On this pin is fastened the furniture handle knob (70). The locking element (30) is moved when this knob is pushed, pulled or rotated. The inclined faces of the locking element and the stop have rough finish on contacting faces.
