The locking system for a skylight has an exposed arrangement fitted on the frame. A channel profile holder is fitted on the frame and this profile guides a sliding actuating rod. A bearing block on the actuating rod froms a pivot for the stay arm. A sliding coupling on the stay arm locks or releases the stay arm. The holding part (1) has guiding ends (6, 10) for the coupling part (20). The coupling part (20) can be moved within the holding part over the maximum opening position of the stay arm (18) and beyond up to a position in which one end of the coupling part is released from one of the guiding ends (10). The actuating rod (30) can be now moved out of the slot (9).
