Fuel injection engine with uncooled exhaust to turbocharger - has baffle separating hot exhaust from fuel carrying components

The reciprocating piston engine (1) with fuel injection has non cooled exhaust pipes (3), exhaust-driven turbochargers (5) and non cooled bends connecting the exhaust pipes with the turbochargers. A sheet metal baffle (9) extends along the full length of the engine separating the pressurised fuel containing components (6-8) from the exhaust pipes, bends and turbo-chargers. The baffle overlaps the hot exhaust carrying components from the fuel carrying components and is sealingly secured to the engine. The baffles may be clamped between the exhaust manifold and the cylinder head. Packing may be interposed on both sides where the baffle is secured.
