The cupboard hinge has parts on the door and on the body, connected with internal and external hinge levers. The pivoted hinge system forms a four bar linkage lifting door or flap before swinging open. The door or flap is kept open by a ratchet mechanism. The hinge pivot on the furniture body side of the hinge lever is able to slide in the fixed hinge part. This sliding component rests under the effect of a ratchet spring against an arm connected to the second hinge lever. The mechanism is arranged so that in the closed position of the hinge, the arm and the sliding hinge axis are connected by ratchet effect.
