<p>1524503 Seeding implement DEERE & CO 14 Jan 1977 [15 Jan 1976] 01563/77 Heading AID Cutting wheels 24 for cutting narrow furrows for the reception of seeds, each comprise a disc provided around its periphery with teeth 46 having a set (like the teeth of a saw) so that the width of the furrow exceeds the thickness of the disc 24. Each tooth 46 has a radial cutting edge which may be faced by an insert of tungsten carbide. Each cutting wheel 24 is held against a friction drive disc by a nut 38 arranged to be self-tightening on the drive shaft 25. A spring-biased pivoted arm 20 supports a pair of cutting wheels 24 and is provided with depth skids 22. A seed depositor 26 is mounted on each skid 22 by a bar 27. A packer wheel is mounted to rear of each skid 22 by a bracket, and extends into the furrow cut by the cutting wheel 24.</p> |
