III is selected from: (a) polydimethylsiloxane-organic copolymers in which the siloxane portion has M.W. #1500 and the organic portion is polyoxyethylene, polyoxypropylene or polyxoyethylene oxypropylene copolymer, having M.W. #500 and attached to the silicon portion via Si-C bonds; and (b) copolymers which are reaction products of polydimethylsiloxane, M.W. #1500, containing silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms and a hydroxylated polyoxyethylene, polyoxypropylene or oxyethylene-oxypropylene copolymer of M.W. #500. II may be an organopolysiloxane, e.g. polydimethylsiloxane, mineral oil or polybutene. On curing a self-lubricating solid is obtained in which the lubricant particles are uniformly dispersed in the epoxy resin. Uses.-Insulators for high voltage transmission (when filled with alumina); bearings and gears.</p> |
