1467137 Thermally and acoustically insulated piping KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 10 Oct 1975 [31 Jan 1975] 41615/75 Heading F2P In producing a thermally and acoustically insulated piping a metal pipe 1 is guided by rollers 2, 3 at the input end of an apparatus, a shaping unit 4 shapes a band 6 into a U-shape around the pipe 1 and an expandable synthetic resin mixture is dropped from a feed unit 7 on to band 6 to approximately half fill the U-shape and at least up to the pipe 1. The pipe is supported at a distance above the band 6 by an endless belt 8 and is maintained in contact with the belt by means of a suction device through orifices 17 communicating with a vacuum pipe 18 The belt 8 also assists in feeding the pipe through the apparatus. A further feed unit 11 for the expandable mixture is provided towards the downstream end of the feed unit 11 just prior to the band being formed into a closed tube 12, e.g. by welding the edges of the band 6 together. Instead of the belt system, one or more magnets may be provided. The band 6 may be of metal or a synthetic resin. |
