1489567 Photopolymerizable compositions IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 Sept 1974 [26 Sept 1973] 45090/73 Heading C3P [Also in Division G2] Photopolymerizable compositions useful in preparing relief image-bearing plates comprise (a) poly-(N-vinylpyrrolidone), a mixture of poly - (N - vinylpyrrolidone) and poly - (vinylacetate), or a copolymer of N-vinylpyrrolidone, vinyl acetate and, optionally, a dialkyl maleate; (b) an addition polymerizable monomer or oligomer which is soluble in, or compatible with, a solvent or dispersing medium for (a); and (c) a photoinitiator. Component (b) is preferably a monomer having at least two non-conjugated ethylenic double bonds, e.g. a bis-(meth)- acrylate, a bis-(meth)acrylamide, allyl methacrylate, a poly-(meth)acrylate ester of trimethylol propane or pentaerythritol, a vinyl urethane, or triallyl cyanurate. The photoinitiator may be, for example, benzophenone, benzoin, benzoin methyl ether or diacetyl. Optional components include polymerization inhibitors, plasticizers, dyes and surfactants. |
