<p>The installation for packing leaf tobacco into crates has a heavy frame (1) with uprights and cross beams underr which is a compression chamber (2) formed from a grid of lighter members. A horizontal ram (4) is first forced inwards horizontally by hydraulic pressure to compress the material. The top of the chamber is formed by another ram (6) which is forced downwards to further compress the bale. This is then pushed into a crate (7) underneath, which is enclosed by a matrix, when the sliding base (8) is moved to allow the compressed bale to pass through the bottom opening (9).</p> |
