<p>The voltage regulator is for motor vehicle battery charging generators, normally alternators. The regulator provides a visual indication of the performance on the charging system, in that unacceptably low or high charging voltage and minimum charging rate cause the indicator to operate. Indication of such condition is by a single lamp in the collector of a Zener protected transistor governed by two threshold detecting stages in parallel. The regulator can also supply the generator excitation current either directly or in a three phase system via a rectifier bridge from the generator to a diode circuit and then to the excitation windings.</p> |
