<p>The motor is constructed using a structure normally associated with asynchronous motors but which runs at a synchronous speed after a start up period. The design is intended to combine the advantages of the one type with those of the other, i.e. high starting torque and constant known speed at full load. The motor has a rotor which is of squirrel cage construction. It has the usual longitudinal slots in which are pressed or moulded non-magnetic conductors (7). The rotor also has a series of slots in which are situated permanent magnets (5), the number of pairs of which correspond to the number of stator poles, the polarity of the magnets alternating around the circumference.</p> |
