The carburetter of an IC engine contains a throttle (22) and has an outlet (20) for the fuel air mixture which ends in a flange to fix to the inlet manifold. The manifold (24) has a corresponding flange which mates with the carburettor flange. The flanges are held together by screws (26). A perforated metal screen (14) backed by a gasket (19) is gripped between the two flanges. It is held firmly as the screws are tightened. The turbulence produced as the fuel air mixture passes through the screen improves the homogeneity of the mixture. This results in better combustion.
