Newly developed locomotives are equipped with rotary current short circuit rotor travel motors which are supplied via converters from the contact line fed with single-phase alternating current. In converters with variable frequency, when realised in practice, a certain harmonic content in the motor current cannot be avoided when taking into account expenditure, which harmonic content leads to oscillating moments of the drive motor. These oscillating moments lead, in the case of a drive via a hollow cardan shaft with articulated lever couplings arranged on both sides to axial vibrations of the cardan shaft. These vibrations are avoided in that an additional rubber ring spring coupling (25) is arranged at least parallel to one of the articulated lever couplings (21 to 23). <IMAGE>
