An arrangement records the level of water in reservoirs, and is esp. for the indication of the incidence of waves on an embankment. a number of carriers is arranged at different depths. Switching devices are operated by immersion of the respective measuring station. A recording device indicates the instantaneous status of the switching devices, which consist of diaphragm-operated switches each mounted centrally on the carrier head and connected by an air conduit to the respective measuring station. Typically, the embankment of a dam has a profile carrier arranged on it. The carrier includes a number of air conduits having openings which are connected to diaphragm-operated switches in the head of the carrier. A switch is actuated when the corresponding opening is immersed.
