1280332 Multiple-ply sheet glass CORNING GLASS WORKS 3 Nov 1969 [4 Nov 1968] 53727/69 Heading C1M Multiple-ply sheet glass is obtained from separate sources 14 and 16 of molten glass before contacting the atmosphere, a core glass being supplied from container 14 and skin glass from chamber 16, the core glass being supplied through delivery slot 30, into which slot 30 is also supplied skin glass through metering means 28 so as to form an outer ply on the core glass before the multiple-ply sheet emanates from the delivery passage. The apparatus may be formed of Pt or Pt/Rh alloy, and the separate chambers are electrically heated to maintain suitable fluidities. Any number of plies may be formed, one apparatus being for a seven-ply glass sheet. The composite glass sheet may be rolled for thinner glass. |
