<p>Appts. for inspecting vertical large vessels, esp. nuclear reactor pressure vessels, comprises a testing device which can move longitudinally and circumferentially over the surface of the vessel. A number of vertical rails are distributed at intervals around the circumference of the vessel. Near the top of the vessel, a horizontal rail track surrounds it and carries a trolley which can thus run around the vessel at this level. This trolley carries a vertical extension piece of rail-section which can this be placed at the top of any of the vertical rails adjacent the vessel. Used esp. for inspecting nuclear pressure vessels in extremely congested conditions, such as those for ship propulsion. Appts. enables the entire vessel surface to be reached from a single point and each point to be inspected with great accuracy of location. Handling and assembly are very simple.</p> |
