<p>Coke oven of the horizontal chamber type is fitted with buckstays which support the outer lining of the oven and are joined by cross and longitudinal tie rods. Insulation and/or cooling reduces the heat transfer from the outer lining to the buckstays to such an extent that the differential heating of the buckstays and the resulting deformations can be compensated by adjustable springs. The arrangement prevents any permanent deformations of the buckstays and eliminates the effect of any residual deformations by mechanical means.</p> |
