Arc welding appts. has a power supply located in a casing fitted with a lid on which an electrode wire feeder is fitted. The lid can be tilted upwards and locked in an inclined plane. The lid is pref. fitted with a stop rail against which feet on the feeder rest so the latter cannot slide down the sloping lid. The feeder is pref. a hand trolley contg. a spool of welding wire and a wire feeder; and a flexible pipe carrying the wire and electric power etc. to the burner is fitted on the trolley. The trolley pref. also includes a handle from which a spiral spring is suspended to hold the flexible pipe. Most of the wt. of the burner and its flexible supply pipe is taken by the trolley, so the human holding the burner has only to guide the latter without the fatigue involved. with the total wt. of burner and pipe.
