<p>1524229 Window fastenings Y NAKANISHI 26 Nov 1975 [27 Dec 1974 (2)] 48555/75 Heading E2A A rotatable camming bolt 2, engageable with a keeper (not shown), may be locked in the fastening position by rotation of a knob 3. The knob 3 has camming surfaces (see Fig. 7) which engage with similar surfaces on a locking member 26 and so convert rotation of the knob into sliding movement of the locking member 26, along the shaft 17 of the knob 3, between unlocking and locking positions. In the locking position legs 28 on the locking member pass through guide holes 34 in the bolt 2 and engage with receiving holes 36 in the base 1, thus preventing rotation of the bolt 2. Rotation of the knob 3 from this position permits the locking member 26 to slide, under the action of spring 41, up the shaft 17 until the legs 28 are free of receiving holes 36, thus permitting rotation of the bolt 2. For ease of rotation of the bolt, a washer 43 made of a self-lubricating plastic, may be inserted between the bolt 2 and the base member 1.</p> |
