<p>1, 1, 1-Trifluoro-2-chloro-ethane (I) is produced by fluorination of tetrachloroethane (II) by reacting (IIe with anhydrous HF in the liquid phase at raised temps and pressures in the presence of a (known) fluorination catalyst. (I) may be used as an aerosol component, as a gaseous pain-reducing agent additive or as a hair cleaning agent component. It is esp. an alternative for perhalogenated fluorochloromethanes. (I) is produced in good yields and with high purity. The reaction is reasonably rapid and the catalyst is not used up. No marked decompsn. products are produced and the catalyst is asily regenerated (by (dis)continuous addn. of Cl2).</p> |
