<p>The rocking toy has an automatic forward motion provided by means of a shoe attached to each rocker by a pivot. This shoe has a convex profile contacting the surface supporting the toy, its pivot being on an arm extending towards the top of the rocker. When the toy rocks forwards, the projecting rear end of the shoe forms a step or fulcrum. On rocking back, the centre of gravity moves behind the shoe pivot and the shoe moves back on its convex surface. Reaction causes the toy to move forwards and the shoe remains inactive until the next cycle.</p> |
