Washbasins, the hot-water supply of which is covered by a closed hot-water generator, require a safety valve (8) which prevents an impermissible pressure increase in the hot-water generator. If water is discharged from the outlet pipe of the safety valve, it is generally very hot. In order to prevent the user, who may possibly be washing his/her hands in this washbasin, from being scalded, the mouth (9) of the outlet (10) of the safety valve (8), fastened on the washbasin, is arranged near to the basin edge (11) and is directed downwards or towards the washbasin wall (15). The point at which hot water, discharged from the safety valve (8), flows into the washbasin is then one at which the user's hands are usually not located. As a result, the danger of scalding is at least substantially eliminated. <IMAGE>
