<p>A valve handle designed to prevent operation by a child, has a knob (2) with a spring (3) inside so that it is normally unable to turn the spindle (1). When pushed down against the spring, they are interconnected, and the spindle can be turned. Inside, are two swinging arms (11) attached by hinge pins near the top, interconnected by a bridging member (13), the latter integral with a push button (9) protruding through the top. This is pushed down to disengage the knob from the spindle again. These arms hooked at the bottom, to engage slots (10) in the sides of a block (8) attached to the top of the spindle. Between the block and the knob is a smaller spring (9).</p> |
