The bobbin is constructed with a tubular shaft in light metal, and a plate flange of rigid, wear-resistant material partic. of a thermosetting material, at one or both ends of the bobbin. Each flange carries, at least along its circumference, a plastic lining resistant to knocks and scoring, such as nylon, polyester, 'Teflon' (RTM), or the polyacetal known as 'Delrin' (RTM). On such frames the bobbins are required to turn at high speeds, such as 6000-8000 turns per minute. Taking into account the demands of starting up and the high speed running to the machines, it is advisable that the bobbins should be as light as possible. Further, the bobbin should be resistant to wear, in consideration of the yarn being wound. The bobbin should also be capable of absorbing the forces within the mass of wound yarn, without appreciable deformation.
|
