<p>The cutting wheel is located in a mobile head mounted on a bearing at a remote point from the glass pane being cut; and the head is provided with a pneumatic cylinder exerting a constant force on the cutting wheel, which rotates on a shaft. The axis of the shaft is parallel with the plane of the glass pane. The cutting wheel is pref. replaceable, the dia. of the wheel being chosen to suit the thickness of the pane. The constant force exerted by the pneumatic cylinder pref. depends on the thickness of the pane; and is max. 170 kg for pane thickness 24.4 mm, and min 85 kg for panes 8-10 mm thick. The included angle of the cutting wheel is pref. max. 187 degrees for panes 25.4 mm thick, and min. 157 degrees for panes 8-10 mm thick, i.e. the angle is varied to suit the pane thickness. A smooth cut edge is obtd. which is easily polished.</p> |
