Unit for treating bronchial ailment - has tube into which patient breathes to move piston against spring and magnetic pressure to uncover ports

The unit is used for treating bronchial dyspnoea and comprises a tube (1) fitted with a mouthpiece (2). The patient breathes into this tube and displaces a piston (3) inside, this being spring loaded (4) to build up the patient's breathing pressure. The piston has a hollow rod (16) extending inside the tube towards the end opposite the mouthpiece. The piston movement causes this end (17) to approach, and be attracted by, a permanent magnet (18), a sharp movement suddenly uncovering exhaust ports (5, 6) to deflate the breathing pressure. The position of the ports is adjustable (7, 8, 9) and a spring assisted flap valve enables the patient to inhale (10 to 15).
