The present invention relates to an improvement in a peeling machine having a hollow shaft carrying a cutterhead, the improvement being characterized in that the machine includes clamping means for feeding and removing a workpiece, said clamping means clamping each end of the workpiece, said clamping means moving through the hollow shaft and being adapted to move the workpiece axially of the cutter-head, said cutting means maintaining said workpiece in a clamped position during a complete peeling operation.
