The machine erects a cardboard box from a blank which has been precut and provided with fold lines. These are held in a magazine and removed by suction operated gripping jaws on a chain conveyor. A clamp each side holds the blank in the vertical position in the erecting station. A carriage is reciprocated by a crank and lever mechanism as other cam operated arms form the sides and inner walls of the box. The box is completely erected at this station, except for positioning of the lid, and is then evacuated along another conveyor placed in continuation.
