The spring slat (1) is completely flat in the region of its two ends, but extends towards its centre in a continuously increasing depression shape. The depression (2) increases in depth, the side regions (3) of the cross-sectional profile extending substantially flatly. The central region likewise extends flatly on its underside (4). Between the two end regions (3) there are side regions (5) which have side edges which advantageously diverge towards the longitudinal axis of the spring slat (1). The strength or load-bearing capacity of this spring slat is considerably greater than that of conventional spring slats. In the central region which absorbs the greatest bending moment, the spring slat (1) contains a correspondingly high resistance moment which decreases towards the ends of the spring slat. <IMAGE>
